Tyvek is a fun and exciting embellishment material that is being used by dollmakers everywhere! Tyvek is the trademark name for a plastic film manufactured by Dupont. The film is very strong, is water resistant, and you Earth Angelcannot tear it. The film comes in several thicknesses and there is even Tyvek fabric! It feels like a fibrous film and looks like paper. When heat is applied to the surface, it shrinks, distorts, and bubbles, allowing for a variety of creative applications.

You can sew through the film either by hand or machine, bead it, sequin it, or add surface stitching on the film. You can apply braids, trims and cords to the surface by cable stitching over the trims.

Tyvek can be colored with just about any medium your imagination can come up with. You can apply paint from a spray can, acrylics, watercolors, glitter paint, crayons (try melting wax!), embossing powders, etc.
