Have you ever tossed the head from a doll in progress into the trash
(or against the wall!) because it did not turn out to your
expectations?
A while back I had many of these and my body parts basket was over flowing. So, I started to practice with applying Paperclay over the stuffed heads.
Often some unique characters have been born this way. So don’t throw out those reject heads! You may never know what interesting creation may be lurking under a layer of paperclay!
Not only heads retrieved from the body parts basket are candidates; you can start from scratch and use a head from one of your patterns, or design one of your own.
Keep in mind if using a head from a pattern, you will need to reduce it with a copier about 20%, as the medium adds volume after it is applied. The same goes when designing a head for a new doll. Make the head a bit smaller than the rest of the pattern pieces so it will be in proportion after the Paperclay layer is applied.
