Marguerite's hand is designed to closely mimic the natural poses of an actual hand. By using a separate pattern for the thumb and two middle fingers, the size of the palm can be decreased while still having fingers large enough to turn.
The hand pattern included is for a 15" doll and has a finished size of 3/4" across the knuckles and 1 1/4" from the fingertips to the wrist.
Different fabrics may yield different sizes. I used a woven 100% cotton fabric. The pattern can be enlarged for a larger doll.
Cutting Pattern: 1. Trace the patterns onto wrong side of freezer paper. Cut out.
2. Iron shiny side of freezer paper pattern onto the wrong side of doubled fabric with the fingers on the bias grain line of the fabric.
Stitch: 3. Stitch along the solid lines leaving open at the dotted lines. Use small (1.0 mm) stitches. Be sure to tie off stitches at the knuckle opening. Note: No opening is left for the thumb on the hand.
