1. Take your Paperclay out of its package and put it in a plastic
zippered bag.
Knead it and add some water if it’s too dry.
2. Cover egg shaped styrofoam with a gauze pad and secure to back of shape. If you are using a bottle or other shape, sew the gauze with a few stitches to keep it in place. Wet the gauze pad.
3. Take a chunk of Paperclay and roll it into shape, about 1/4 inch thick using a dampened bottle. Cut the clay into a mask that is larger than desired to put on your egg shape.
4. Place your clay on the egg shape and begin to shape the face. Keep wetting your fingers as needed to get the beginning form for the mask. It is a good idea to leave the clay at this time for fifteen minutes or so to firm a little before making features.
