Wow, I can’t believe it’s time for the Finale Issue already! Dolls United has had a great run with many loyal readers. I would personally like to thank each and every one of you for all the support you have given us over the years. We started out with a unique idea to put out an updated, technically
savvy magazine for doll makers and we were thrilled when it became a magazine that people looked forward to receiving in the mailbox. would often hear from readers about how much they liked and appreciated each issue. As the Editor/Publisher and often times writer for this magazine, I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. I always shared the good reviews with the staff without whom Dolls United would not have kept growing and changing along the way. Often times these comments came at a time when we were in need of a good word. Thank you for taking the time to spread good thoughts and hopes for the future. They were most appreciated.
Of course, I must also take this opportunity to thank all those extremely talented artists who have submitted projects, techniques and other information to us over the years. Without them, there would never have been a Dolls United. The talent that came to our computer screens always amazed me. I felt so lucky to know these incredibly talented people.
Many readers have sent emails and notes asking if it would be possible for Dolls United to continue.
I’m sorry to say at this time it is not possible…hence the Finale Issue. Some readers have asked what will become of the staff of Dolls United. Not to worry we all are moving on to other parts of our creative lives.
Paula Johnson has recently opened her own fabric store in Arkansas. If you are ever in Russellville,
stop by and see her in her new shop. I know she’d love it.
Andi will continue to do her computer graphics and website magic. She is very young and still deciding what road to take in that field. After all there are so many opportunities in web and computer design. I know she will be great at whatever area of design she chooses to work in.
Me, I’m teaching and writing a book. I have a regular teaching spot at Quilting Adventures in Richmond, VA. If you are ever in the area, stop by and see me and do some fabric shopping at the same time. I hope to continue to teach around the country as well so maybe I will come to your area some day. I know I could not give up writing which I have come to love as an art form on it’s own. So, I will continue to write for other publications while I work on my goal of writing a how-to book.
This Finale Issue of Dolls United is a combination of all the submissions we have received that have not been previously published in an earlier issue. Therefore it is not a themed issue; it is a unique array of inspiration, interviews and talent. I hope you enjoy this last issue of Dolls United.
